Post  XxToXiK_KiLLeRxX on Tue Nov 08, 2011 8:01 pm

Hi guys

Made this post so you can put what are the issues, glitches, problems, etc.. That you are experimenting with bf3, so i can i get a little informed before i jump into the game.

Also are helis controls the same as in bc2 (default) if not what are the ones that resemble more and for the jets the ones closer to bf1943

There are a few issues with the final product that will be addressed in due time. Chief among them are flashlights and the sun are way too bright, team and squad communication still hampered by buggy microphone problem and a few prone players here and there just camped out in a corner. There is still the odd green flash and for some odd reason there is a sound glitch in which it goes dead quiet at random points but you wont lose the whole sound, you will still gunshots ect. As for helicopters, it is sadly not like BC2. You have to use both analog sticks to control the yaw, pitch and roll with the aircraft. At first I found it very hard to control but after tweaking the different control layouts, I believe I chose Southpaw, I would like to call myself a pretty good pilot now. Smile

It's much more difficult to fly (helicopters, at least, I had the hang of jets immediately - thanks Ace Combat!), but once you figure out what the hell you're doing, it's possible to fly with much more control and precision than was possible in Bad Company 2.

Ok so here is a list of the problems with BF3:

LAG: On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the worst. Week one of BF3 is a 10. It’s down to a 4 now. Occasionally you will be frozen in place as it does a mass save. You sometimes warp across the screen.

Controller input: The controller will spastically go from being extremely loose (spinning 360 when you just wanted to look to the left) to I can’t move that damn gun at all. There’s an input lag at the moment that makes the controller respond ½ sec after you actually did it. It’s random and no known cause. It is known by DICE and they are working on it.

Gun reload and malfunction: I doubt this was intentional but sometimes your gun will “Jam” and stop firing for no reason. The only way to fix is reload. Sucks in midfight.

The gun doesn’t always reload a full clip. If you’re using the SAW no biggie. Try that with the MP7 and no extended clip.

Screen tear and flashing lights: Again a known issue that they are working on but no reasoning for it. Mid match your screen will either tear across the middle or you get a seizure inducing flashing green screen.

Game kicks: Week 1 the game froze or kicked everyone almost every other match. I’m down to about 3-5 a night now.

Game balancing: Good luck trying to play with friends. The game doesn’t even let you bring your whole squad into a match. What generally happens is if you bring a squad of 4 into a game. 1 guy will be sent to the opposing team. The 2 guys on the same team will not be on the same squad. 1 guy will just be flat out kicked.

To add to this at the end of every round the game will force players onto the team with less players. Week 1 it was random. Now it first takes anyone not in a squad. Afterwards it takes the guy last in and so on. If the guy is on a squad it forces the whole squad over.

Hitboxes: When everything runs smoothly guns in this game handle pretty similar to BFBC2. Most guns take 4-5 rounds to kill. However that’s a rarity. You can sometimes unload both your guns, grenade and a rocket and miss each other from 3m (9ft) away. Some of it is lag, but a lot of it is the hitboxes are very off in this game.

He’s dead HE’S REALLY DEAD: So sometimes a dead gun looks like he’s alive. Mortar spammers are the biggest culprit. Sneak up to him and knife the guy 3 times and then he vanishes. Guys will still look like they are fighting even though they are dead. I don’t mean in BFBC2 where his body is hanging out a wall. I mean he is still in a fighting position.

Knife: There is a hitbox for knifing. If you knife at the wrong angle it will do nothing. It’s at its worst if you try to knife a guy prone. If you stand too directly above him, it will miss. You have to lean a little to either side. Basically if you wanna knife a guy, DO NOT go at him at a perfect straight angle.

Sound vanishes: You will lose all sound a min of once per match. That includes not knowing someone is shooting at you to a giant tank barreling towards you.

That’s the list of problems technical side. Personal issues I’ll post later.

Finally got back from a work trip last night and got to play! Jumped in with Ash, Billy, Luke, HL, Trapt, Twin and Ae. Had fun -- once I worked out my laptop was torrenting movies at the same time and making me lag like a mo'fo! But can I just confirm that the VOIP chat is fucked...? I got snippets of what Trapt and Ash were saying ... but it was basically pointless trying to talk. Hope it ain't just me? And clans/platoons -- seems like there's multiple LoS platoons on the battlelog, all with just one member...

Oh yeah forgot about that glitch. Yeah VOIP is off and on. Sometimes it works great other times not so much. At its worse you could only hear every 3rd word a person says.
